Ir-responsible managing Angie Motshekga

What is Angie Doing?

Above basic Education Minister(SA): Angelina Motshekga startled

"TWO weeks after textbooks were destroyed in Limpopo, Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga is now calling for the arrest of defaulting service providers..." as according to Sowetan live"

Angelina Motshekga, Basic Education Minister(BEM) is  an individual who has failed our country and has  also  recently  set up a "
call centre for Limpopo schools which have not yet recieved their  textbooks. but Will this call centre really help improve communication chanels in Limpopo? or will it just create room for blaming this call centre when communication problems occur between the BEM and the limpopo community?. I think a call centre is effective but why was it not implemented before the Limpopo textbook saga crisis occured?

Feelings:

Limpopo children Source (www.google.com)
Im both  dissapointed and angry at  our Basic education minister for not being able to manage the textbook saga, but is it fair to blame her alone?.Should we blame the Limpopo provincial  departments and not Angie? I think she is to be blamed.

Everyone has  a Say:
According to the news24 report, Hope Makgatle spokesperson of the Basic Education Minister confirmed that:Our basic Education Minister was aware of the delivery problems but could not effect procurement.

  •
Basic Education Minister reportedly would not comment on claims that she had been briefed on the state of affairs before the textbook saga worsened.
  • Outraged ANC  Gwede Mantashe says that "whossoever is found responsible for textbook saga must face criminal charges!".

Whats your say?:

Is Angie Motsekga a success in failure( someone who turned a blind eye to the textbook saga, )

or is Angie a failed success ( someone who has allocated responsibility to people and was failed?)

  1. I think she turned a blind eye and since she's been given two weeks to resign then she is guilty.

  2. I agree with you Kea, How can our very own Basic Education Minister not be able to solve the textbook saga?. Yes she must take accoutability of being guilty

  3. The fact that she couldn`t solve the texbook saga means she`s one of those who are responsible for it,she has to resign then

  4. I think a new minister should be appointed in order so solve the mess Angie has done. i believe she should be removed from her position as she is not delivering at anymeans or so whatever.

    1. @ Pebetse, yes she should take acountability for completely failing to solve the Limpopo textbook crisis. Resigning is a solution, how else do you suggest such an issue be solved?

  6. @ Zubenathi, Yes failure to solve a crisis such as the Limpopo textbook saga is unacceptable. If someone is unable to manage a situation then they must accept responsibility, step down and appoint new persons who are willing to ensure that the issue is solved. the fact that angie wants to fire defaulting service providers is also unacceptable. Step up or step out.

  7. Angie is as good as it gets with the ANC, the ANC has absolutely no sense of ACCOUNTABILITY. What an absolute shame. And again, I think that she is not competent to be the Minister of Education, but its sad that she gets punished while other ANC gets free with corruption on such cases. So, firing her is unfair on grounds of incompetence, who is in cabinet is competent, none; really but they are not threatened, anyway who is in cabinet is competent, none; really, but they are not threatened I think she must be reinstated again as a minister, we all deserve second chance in life

    1. I agree with you that the ANC seems to have no sense of accountability with this Limpopo textbook Saga. However I feel that Angie is not as good as it gets.Last week she "warned principals not to speak to the media about education problems in Limpopo schools" as according to: http://mg.co.za/article/2012-07-30-education-department-needs-a-doctor-or-a-diplomat/.
If she had just taken accountability and admitted to the public that she had failed to successfully ensure that textbooks were delivered maybe then I would agree that she deserves a second chance, but she continuse to blame departments of which she is responsible for. Angie is definetly to blame for turning a blind eye to the Limpopo Textbook Saga.

    1. I definetly agree with you,The "questionable multimillion-rand textbook" contract was awarded to a company called EduSolutions which has connections to heavyweights in the ruling party. Thanx to whistleblower Solly Tshitangano it was also found that
"EduSolutions failed in an application to North Gauteng High Court to have its contract reinstated". read more on this awesome whistleblower at (http://www.corruptionwatch.org.za/content/diary-whistleblower)who was fired for being a hero for limpopo residents.

    1. Although Government employs qualified cabinet ministers such as Siphiwe Nyanda:Minister of Communications, and Minister of Basic Education. The Cabinet Minister Angie Motshekga has disappointed the country by failing to deliver textbooks in limpopo.

  11. The is a reason as to why was made minister in the fist place. This problem has tested both the minister and government in dealing with crisis management. Only time will tell, but questions must be raised if the next person will do a better job? Government prides itself on education, yet such cases occur.@MokD21

    1. Its true that she was made minister for a reason but then again she has failed to come up with a solution for this textbook saga. I feel that the next person will do a much better job than what Angie Motshekga has done thus far.Im suprised as well as to how a government that prides itself on education can let such a crisis occur.

  12. I think she has turned a blind eye on this issue not realizing how important it is and how it will affect the leaners. Turning a blind eye on issues is what government officials do best.

  13. But Mpho I don't understand why we should blame Angie Motshekga for I believe that she signed for the books a long time ago. If Angie is to blame, then why is that other provinces are okay and there isn't any problem regarding the textbook issue? Remember that in the beginnining of the year Limpopo was in the news for mis-management of funds and; as a matter of fact Limpopo was the only province facing financial difficulties. Therefore, Limpopo provincial government is to blame and not Angie Motshekga.

    1. @ Refi, I still blame Angie MOtshekga she did not follow through to ensure that the textbooks are delivered. The other provinces are not okay they too just like Limpopo are struggling with textbook delivery:Edenglen Primary school in Ekurhuleni has not yet recieved their Maths and science textbooks and other workbooks for the second half of the year as according to Khume Ramulifo, DA Gauteng education spokesperson. Three Cape Town schools have been without textbooks since the beginning of the year as according to the Western Cape ANC.

  14. Mpho let us not blame Angie for this mess because everything that was supposed to be done it was part of team work and follow up had to be made to show succes

  15. Mpo, i think we should take into consideration of other peaople involved, not just angie. following saloma: we should also blame the departments' administration for failing their promises.

    1. Its well and good to blame the other departments but let us not forget that there is only one Minister of education who takes responsibility for all departments and takes the initiatives to assighn persons to departments where necessary. It is the responsibility of Angie to ensure that all education responsibilities are carried out.

  16. I personally think that as a head, Angie id not handle this matter well. As there are other departments involved as well but she is the one who has to answer at the end.
