Ayeye SABC officials

CriminalSylvester Sithole
To think that our South African citizens will ever live in harmony ,with  no corruption rates and no fraud cases is a concept that is just not possible or is it that South African Citizens themselves accept that they live in a corruption filled society and  do nothing but depend on the Violent police?  in hope that one day corruption rates will improve?.

Today, Mafika Sihlale,  former head of legal and business advisory services and his partner in crimeSylvester Sithole have failed to appear in Court on friday, they are both  charged  with defrauding the SABC. The two partners worked hand in hand to channell funds into another SBS Inc. account  and caused the SABC to loose R2,5million, but  they were  released on  R150000 and  R20000 bail.

Now, this is just an example of  the day to day corruption that takes place in our country. I can imagine the rage that fellow South African feel when a criminal is simply given bail and let off the hook, but Is it reason enough to take  matters into their own hands?. Is it fair for South African criminals to have both the punishment of  citizensand government legal systems?. I think punishment from one system is sufficient.

However the main reason why fraud and corruption rates increase boils down to communication and accountability. I feel South Africans should implement  Social accountability and in so doing create an effective society without the use of violence.

Lets work together to create a better society.

  1. How can you grant a bail of such less money for someone who used millions of rands, the truth is corruption will never stop in this country.

    1. corruption can and will stop, the day people learn to not be greedy and want what is beyond their means... the justice systems is self serving in that, it only satisfies it's own means.

    2. @ Zubenathi, I think that if South African citizens continue to take on the responsibility of communicating to leadership persons about corruption and leadership persons that are corrupt are given harsher punishments then gradually corrupion will decrease in our country.

    3. @ Edwin, its great that you have a positive outlook to corruption. Corruption can stop but how do we justify greediness in our society? The justice systems are serving the pockets of those in power whilst communities such the Eastern Cape and Limpopo remain in poverty and with false promises made every year. Who do we as citizens hold accountable when the persons in power such as Sylvestor Sithole are themselves corrupt?

    4. being greedy is human nature, we cannot expect to change decades of genetic encoding in just a few months. as citizens we should learn by now that the people we voted into power really stopped serving the public a long time ago if they ever even did.

    1. @ Grace, I agree that a harsher punishment should have been given to Sylvester, How many criminals get away with just bail? it is just unacceptable for law abiding south african citizens to have to live with criminals who get light sentences

  3. I just think there are more deep issues of factors to such behaviour! We live in a country whereby it's every man for himself! We all want to enrich ourselves and in that process, other people are negatively affected. Think service delivery for instance!

    1. I agree that in our society it is a matter of evryone for himself but there should be fair and just means to obtain the wealth that people desire. Matters such as poor sevice delivery is unacceptable but it is not an excuse to commit corruption.

  4. I think this is a very serious issue that South Africa is faced with. Where people are charged of such crimes and then they know they will be granted bail and thats will be the end.

    1. @ Akhona, I also think it is a serious issue, Persons being granted bail is just not a harsh enough punishment more especially because crime rates in our country are not decreasing.

    1. @ Refi, I am glad that you can see that there is just no excuse for corruption. I think that there should be a way to regulate the money obtained by those in power and there should be a way to satisfy te needs of those in poverty and in power. It is not acceptable to coontinue to live in a greedy power hungry society.

    1. @ Clive, in our society nobody should have to cheat to obtain more money.Corruption in our country needs to be regulated and sorted out by those in power such as government, if people believe that it is okay to cheat to get money then what kind of society will we have in the next 20 years?, we might as well just legalise corruption with such a mentality.

  7. I think that the only way people think they will succeed in life is to be involved in corruption. Looking at our country at this stage corruption is everywhere; from the government to our communities it is not going to stop now.
